Chapter 7: I Reset for the Qualifier
Cai's changed eyes made me nervous about where the story is going, and then I nearly let a qualifier disappear behind the calendar. I reset most of Chapter 7, caught the event, and came back with a better weekly routine and more permanent progression than I had before.
3 min readSpoilers: story
I am in Chapter 7: Opposed Agendas now, and the story has finally started making me nervous in a way the mechanics cannot solve.
Cai's eyes changed.
I do not want to look up why. I just want to remember that this was the point where I started worrying about what the story was doing with him.
Then I made a much more practical mistake: I played through most of the chapter and realized I had forgotten to check the Arena calendar and had missed a qualifier.
So I restarted.
Again.
This time the decision fit the rule Chapter 6 taught me. I genuinely wanted the experience, and the qualifier turned out to be worth seeing. It gave me useful combat/mounted development and I saw the event where Orchel's cat mask was broken. The important part is not that I now need to restart every time I miss something. It is that I knew exactly what I was going back for.
The reset also let the persistent systems keep doing their job.
What I carried into the replay
I had already bought Rider EXP +1, so the mounted half of Cai's build was accelerating from the beginning of the replay.
I had also met Alexandra and raised her to Support 2 before the reset. That means my current Cai recruitment state has three people whose Support work is already finished:
- Alexandra — Support 2 ready; waiting on Renown 7.
- Goliath — Support ready; waiting on Renown and Giant's Meat.
- Sofia — Support ready; waiting on Renown 9.
That is a useful stop sign. I do not need to keep spending meals or other Support actions on those three merely because the activity is available.
I also reached Smyrnos Bless Level 2. I am going to branch into Aurora next rather than insisting on finishing every Smyrnos level first. I can return to Smyrnos when a later Blessing gives me a reason.
The weekly routine is now part of the strategy
My current Dagsion routine is:
- Feed the Pale Raven, use the stable, and accept Karma from completed Notable Deeds.
- Talk to red characters so new meal invitations are available, and deliver/report quests.
- Temple Service.
- Combat training.
- Meals at the Inn.
- Rent a room when I actually want the room/rest benefit.
The missing qualifier added one step above the whole list:
Check the calendar before I leave town.
There is also a useful edge case now. If a chapter starts in the middle of a week and I would otherwise lose the current weekly cycle, I can return on Saturday, do the week's activities, cross the Sunday reset, and do the new week's set again. I would rather route around the reset deliberately than discover afterward that I left free progression unused.
Windstone is no longer a research question
I needed Windstone and went to Collapsed Fort for it.
I got it.
That is enough for Dad Save Point: Collapsed Fort is now my personally confirmed Windstone source, not just a location somebody on the internet says has it.
From there I started another Chapter 7 quest to the north, near the Collapsed Fort area. The encounter looked to be roughly in the level-20 range.
I do not have the quest name firmly enough in my head to write a fake certainty into the site. For now the useful note is simply: northern Chapter 7 quest started; exact quest/location name still needs confirmation from the save.
What I am buying next
My purchased progression is now:
Increase EXP +10% → Spear EXP +1 → Rider EXP +1
The next Boon target is Bow EXP +1.
That gives Peter permanent value and also helps the Sword/Bow utility direction I am building for Guzran. After that, I can compare White Magic and Black Magic based on what the active team is actually missing.
Chapter 7 is making the pattern clearer: the calendar, Support persistence, Boons and world-map routing are not background systems. They are the part of the strategy game that happens between the grid battles.
Where this ended up
The journal keeps the session. These carry the conclusion.
How I'm Playing Fortune's Weave Without Optimizing the Fun Out of It
Understand every system; deliberately optimize only the ones that make the game less repetitive. Finish the game before trying to perfect it, and treat replay as permission to experiment rather than a punishment for missing something.
