Chapter 6, Attempt Three: The Mastery Run

My third Chapter 6 attempt stopped feeling like a restart and started feeling like mastery: permanent progress survived, the route got efficient, the qualifier was caught, Majide joined, and the chapter finally ran the way I wanted it to.

This is my third time through Chapter 6.

The first two attempts did not disappear. Support stayed when I restarted. My Karma stayed. The Boons I had already bought stayed. So when I came back to the opening of the chapter with Spear EXP +1 already working, I was not actually back at zero. I was carrying the useful part of the earlier runs with me.

This time I used that.

I completed all of the quests. I made the long trip for Cai's better spear, got the Da Mina Spear, and refined it to +1. I made it back in time for the qualifier I had missed before. I also made it back every week for the training and weekly activities I cared about instead of letting world-map wandering decide the schedule for me.

The first attempt had been more like Pokopia: follow the interesting thing, fish for a while, poke around the dungeon, take a quest, and see what happens. I like that kind of play there. Fortune's Weave made the calendar and geography into a strategy system of their own, though, and once I understood that, getting the route clean became part of the fun.

What I carried through the resets

My current Chapter 6 state includes Pale Raven Support level 4, Smyrnos Bless Level 1, Increase EXP +10%, Spear EXP +1, and 150 Karma still saved.

Majide is recruited. Sofia and Goliath both have enough Support now, so I do not need to spend more Free Time building those relationships. I am not working on the Hunters right now.

Noctula is also in the team, and training her Brawling to C had a real payoff: Throwing Circles give her the ranged option I was trying to understand when I first spent the money on them.

The equipment lesson came from Majide

I gave Majide a shield because the slot existed.

His Attack Speed hit 0.

That was the clearest possible lesson: equipment is not a checklist. I stripped him back to the axe he actually needed. A shield can still be useful, but only when the defense is worth what it costs the exchange.

That applies to Guzran too. His normal sword setup is about preserving the fast, reliable exchange I want; the Zanbato is a specialist tool for cavalry rather than an every-turn badge of higher Might.

And it applies to Cai. The Da Mina Spear matters because it gives him more power without abandoning the fast mounted attacker I am trying to build.

What attempt three says about me

I do not think I am a simple completionist. What I seem to enjoy is iterative mastery.

I want the discovery pass. I want to understand why the first attempt felt messy. Once I understand the system, I am willing to run it again because executing the chapter cleanly is satisfying in its own right.

A restart is worthwhile when I can say what the next attempt will materially improve, and when the previous attempt left me with something permanent.

Chapter 6 finally feels like mine.

The journal keeps the session. These carry the conclusion.
